I created this blog for use with my students in my Contemporary Mass Media course, which I am teaching in Dubrovnik, Croatia. However, this information may be helpful to any student studying journalism.

The cookie recipe was created after an ''urban legend'' surfaced about them. A PR disaster! Read about it: http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa071397.htm.

My Ph.D. is in Journalism Ethics from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. I teach media ethics, public relations courses, magazine writing and anything else that needs to be taught. I also have master's degrees in English, philosophy, and journalism studies. I have worked for newspapers, online products and magazines. I also do free-lance PR projects.
Spring 2007 semester I took a leave of absence from the University of Northern Colorado; I taught a Contemporary Mass Media course at the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia, as a Visiting Fulbright Scholar. As a Fulbrighter, I was an "unofficial U.S. ambassador." Today, I teach at Colorado State University.
Essay Guidelines
I want a well thought-out essay with your criticism, praise, opinions on any media topic we discussed in class.
Your essay should be written with a clear thesis statement in the essay’s first paragraph, and the body paragraphs should back up your thesis statement. The essay should end with a satisfying conclusion.
Your paper should be typed (in English), double-spaced and at least 2-3 pages long. Please create a separate title page with your name, date, and title of your essay.
Sources are not necessary, but use them if you use material from others.
I am, of course, available to answer any questions you may have during my office hours.
